STYLE INSPIRATION: DESPERADO

From Apparel News, the Old West inspires Fall’s most forward looks. "Think “True Grit” meets “Cowboy Kate” with clean suitings, Navajo prints, Victorian lace and a swirl of fringe". An indie take on the SS2010 Chanel ad campaign, don't cha think?

HONG KONG, HERE WE COME!

Had a most amazing trip to HK. It's always great to go on a vacation to see what else is out there - the sights, the shopping, the food, the people! HK is such a great and diverse bustling city, with loads of shopping & eating but also a gateway to the outdoors, hiking, and weekends around China. It's also one of those places where you can explore endlessly & discover new things about the place each day. LOVE LOVE! I'll be back again soon!

FW 2011 TRENDS- DRIES VAN NOTEN: PRINTS COOL

I must say, this was the best show for me. I loved all the mixing & matching of prints, the shiny silks/sequins/gold, the drapey pants, the zebra prints, the bright colours, the geometry, the oriental influence! I had such a hard time choosing which looks i liked the best and can honestly say that I liked almost every one of the 56 looks that they sent down the runway.
I was pretty sure that Balenciaga was the king of mismatched prints, but Dries brings out a feminine and more wearable quality to his clothing. Every one of them convincingly says "What? This outfit? I just threw it together", but I'm pretty sure that so much attention went into the details/color schemes/graphics of all the looks. <3

FW 2011 TRENDS- CHANEL: GRUNGEY COOL

Only only Karl Lagerfeld can make tweed jackets grungey & cool by cropping them, pairing them over loose blazers & even looser pants, with skin tight black jeans set in a wonderful backdrop of dark, hot, volcanic rocks strewn all over the ground. You can see how exactly each outfit that comes down the runway is completely an epitomization of everything he and the house of Chanel portrays. Kudos! I'm not a huge Chanel fan like others, but you can tell I really liked this collection, can't you?

FW 2011 TRENDS- MARIOS SCHWAB: EFFORTLESS COOL

Once again, totally something that I live for - effortless, cool fashion from Marios Schwab. Sleek use of leather tailored to fit the body, harnesses & buckles, silk shirts and pencil skirts. Strong, cool pieces that you can easily pair with items from your own wardrobe. That to me, is the essence of fashion - it thrives with other items and completes a total look, portrays a certain image and vision, it doesn't exist solely on its own.
