WHY ARE YOU SO OBSESSED WITH ME?

from lookbook.nu

I GET WORLD SICK EVERYTIME I TAKE A STAND

Never used to be, but such a HUGE fan of Lookbook.nu right now! Such a voyeur, stalking on people's style. I wish I could post some of my own looks but feel I'm too old for this game now! Definitely such a step up from stylediary though.

NY FASHION WEEK SS 2011: WILLOW & SAMANTHA PLEET

Cut outs, cropped tops, fantastic asymmetrical draping, sparkle - it's no wonder that Florence Welch is a big fan of Willow

True to her own style, Samantha Pleet presents a laid back quirky vintage charm to her Spring 2011 collection.

NY FASHION WEEK SS2011: JULIAN LOUIE

Think this was one of my favourite shows for the season!
With a background as an architect student, Julian is no more experience in fashion than in internships with Imitation of Christ & Calvin Klein. Yet he stays true to his background by producing structural pieces but with a fresh approach. This season he combines asymmetrical ethnic style skirts and ikat prints with minimal tank tops and shirts. Even the collection only showed 10 looks, I thought it was very cohesive and well thought-out. Would love to get my hands on any of the outfits!

I also like the art direction in the photographs of his collection & lookbooks, seen even in this Spring 2011 photos of models with towering shadows behind them & some of his previous lookbooks.

NY FASHION WEEK SS2011: 3.1 PHILLIP LIM & PROENZA SCHOULER

3.1 Phillip Lim - a lot of jackets thrown over shoulders, sheen, & wrapped silhouettes

Proenza Schouler - a great mix of ladylike tweed, neon colours, dip dyed dresses, and some fantastic slouchy jackets. This pair of designers can make a simple T-shirt & pencil skirt look so cool... one of the best shows so far!

NY FASHION WEEK SS2011: PETER SOM, REEM ACRA & JASON WU

Peter Som - Think someone's been listening too much to Katy Perry's California Girls, but love the use of colours & prints.

Reem Acra - Almost eveningwear, but with a laidback boho touch
I love the hair & the jewellery! And I WOULD wear a cocktail dress out with flats/sandals.

Jason Wu - Elegant, feminine and strong. Love that his line is always feminine but never too over-the-top frilly for my liking. He has gone from strength to strength

CLUB MONACO SPRING 2011

Everyone is doing that vintage romantic mixed look this Spring, and it's kind of driving me insane. I really like the look, but at the same time, what happened to Club Monaco?

They are known for their black and white classics with a twist & a spot of colour, but now they are trying to go for something more trendy, like a vintage-inspired independent label with their new designs and getting Garance Dore to shoot their lookbook. I think it's great that they want to be more hip and more in tune with their customers, but don't change! Since when did Club Monaco make slouchy sweaters or jumpsuits? Or style their clothes with those hiking booties & socks? Don't change, don't change (but maybe bring yr prices down in Asia...).

LOVER CLOTHING 2010-2011 COLLECTION

Gosh. It's that weird time of the year in between seasons, and well, Singapore just doesn't have seasons, does it? What does a girl wear in times like this? Fortunately, cult Australian label Lover itself faces such a dilemma. They offer both AW2010 for the Northern Hemisphere and SS2010 for the Southern Hemisphere. For people like us in the Tropics, I guess we could probably get the best of both worlds, picking from either collection to suit our whim. And there are just too many pieces for the picking. See here for the full collection.
