THE DEBBIE DRESS

Finally finished making that one shoulder 'disco' dress and wore to my friend's wedding dinner last week.
It ended up being a little short but I still liked it anyway. I'm going to call it my Debbie dress because I bought the fabric with my friend Deborah ages ago at the fabric market in Los Angeles and at that time we were talking about being partners & starting our own clothing line. She was the one who picked out the fabric and I since grew to like it very much. It's purple & green with bits of lurex mixed into it, something still shiny and colorful for the festive season and not the usual black dress.

Anyway, I think this might be my last post of the year as I'm off to the land of meat pies & chicken parma (yes Australia) for the holidays! Will bring back some photo memories, but I'm very excited for 2011, which I think will bring lots of new things to the forefront! Thanks to all for reading my posts til date- have a fantastic Christmas & a happy New Year!! xo

HEADDRESS

It's a bit hard not to sit up and notice this back-to-the-roots/hippie/native look. Seen it everywhere from the latest Pirelli calendar shot by Karl Lagerfeld to Rumi from fashiontoast to Stylestalker's latest Desert Fox collection and now an awesome blog from Oraclefox which features her amazing style & anything with feathers, crystals and crochet, preferably vintage. It's really not my style at all but it's also difficult not to get inspired by this free spirited attitude.

FACEHUNTER-COCKATOO-ME

Wow. Great party! No, I didn't get Facehunted but I did get his book. And oh, some great chocolate popsicles from Popaganda!

COSMOS/MOUNTAINS/ICEBERGS

I loved it when Coutorture.com used to do these kind of comparisons.
Found the graphics on ffffound! and then while browsing around the some fashion sites, came across pretty much the same thing in terms of clothing. Sometimes you can't help wonder why fashion looks familiar when it's all around you.

MONDETTE MONOCHROME

I've been talking about Los Angeles a lot these days so I thought I would post a photoshoot with some great clothing by LA designers. Taken from the Mondette blog from LA, the shoot features local brands like Elmer Avenue, Kelly Nishimoto, and Geren Ford. I really like the mood of this shoot - a little bit dark & gloomy but still very pretty. And no, you can hardly tell that the outfits are all monochrome!

ABBEY LEE KERSHAW

Another face that's popping up everywhere! Abbey has been in so many campaigns lately from Calvin Klein to Mulberry to Moussy, and I really love some of the shoots she's done so far such as the one in the August issue of Vogue Italia &  with I-D magazine as the sexy & cute Space Cadet:p

FRIDAY ROUNDUP: LANEWAY, CRYSTAL CASTLES, FACEHUNTER & MGMT

Hmm.. I don't know how it happened, but overnight it seems like Singapore became this incredibly hip city!

Think it all started with the Aussie-based Laneway music festival that's coming here next year, bringing  Ladyhawke, Warpaint, Temper Trap, and other great bands to our little island!
Then there was the announcement that Crystal Castles is popping over for a gig at Zouk, Yvan Rodic of the Facehunter blog is coming for a book signing and the icing on the cake - MGMT is coming as well in March 2011!

Great great moves for the indie scene in general and I'm just overly exuberant! Waiting for more raves in some random warehouses, a bona fide art walk and maybe even some guerilla gardening to pop out of nowhere! And some extra grit on the streets, thank you (if you live here, you know what I mean)!

Meanwhile, here are some scenes from Laneway fest in other cities via gingerfoxvintage & frontrowdiary .
I'm hoping to catch a glimpse of some great SG festival style next year & post it on this blog!! Gotta Represent! xo

SHE IS FRANK

Have massive admiration for this photographer now. Just saw her shoot in the latest Factory magazine and loved it! Her photoshoots bring to mind Terry Richardson but in a more fun & relatable way. And she has an amazing blog full of her work. Great stuff!
